06 May Money For Nothing…..

As the old Dire Strait song goes – Money For Nothing Chicks For Free I have to worry about the sense of government handouts & how some people come to expect them. This is even more so when these $ are considered part of their normal income. I have no issue for those who are disadvantaged, disabled, etc. who have no way of striving to achieve. Shouldn’t we as a nation however aim to incentivise our great population to work & achieve. Twiggy Forest even mentioned this again last week in terms of his indigenous program. Providing jobs not only gives people money it also boosts self esteem, self worth & pride in ones own achievements, rather than a sense of entitlement to get a “freebie”.
One of these days the Mining Boom will run out & the risk is that national income & living standards will fall. Australia is unfortunately a high cost/high tax country & worker productivity has fallen in recent years. Retail, manufacturing, etc. are all going through evolutionary changes.
Look at All the advances in technology & businesses that have grown & flourished in recent times. Now is the time for all of us to grasp the opportunity before us – strive for excellence & we will all be rewarded in time. More & better quality jobs/businesses will boost economic growth/national income & provide increased tax revenues for the governments of the future to reinvest.
